For more than 80 years, the Hanford Site has stood at the intersection of American history, nuclear technology, and the skilled trades. Built during the Manhattan Project and expanded through the Cold War, Hanford helped shape the course of the 20th century. Today, it is home to one of the largest and most technically complex environmental cleanup efforts in the country.

In this IBEW Hour Power feature, we explore the history of Hanford and the generations of IBEW Local 112 members whose specialized electrical expertise has become an essential part of the work happening there. From the growth of the Tri-Cities to construction and commissioning at the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, hear from historians, union leaders, and members about the skill, training, and institutional knowledge required to take on work of this scale.
