For the past 174 years, The Canfield Fair in Canfield, Ohio was a piece of coveted Americana… with the community coming together for days on end to attend livestock auctions, sample local food, get up close and personal with their favorite animals in the petting zoo and more. But, like most things, 2020 had other plans.
With the majority of events being canceled last year, the silver lining was a gap in time to begin and complete construction on a new 35 thousand square foot building on the fairgrounds, to the tune of more than $4m, thanks to the men and women of Local 64 and Dickey Electric.
The new building will provide more open space and airflow, more receptacles for power, better lighting and an overall improved fair-goer experience than in previous years.
As is customary, our members work where they live, and many Local 64 Members feel deeply connected to this project. Like Randall Lowe, who speaks fondly of his experience working on the new construction at the Canfield Fair, “I’ve been coming here since I was a child, and now I get to bring my kids here. It means a lot to me to show them what I’ve been working on”.
With any luck, as life begins to inch back to normal, this year the Fair in Canfield, Ohio will happen once again and it’ll be bigger and better than ever.
