Organized labor has a way of bringing people together for a common goal – to improve the lives of workers through better working conditions, better benefits, and solid safety standards. CS Construction started in 1980 originally as a concrete structures company, but as they grew they added an electrical arm in 1994 to build traffic signals and highway lighting. As a part of this niche electrical market, heavy in civil construction, their workers must have a quality electrical background to succeed. In order to grow the business and develop reliable workers, CS Construction partnered with IBEW Local 769 to unionize.

The partnership between Local 769 and CS Construction is mutually beneficial – it helps CS retain workers with union benefits and it makes Local 769 stronger as a traffic signal union. Furthermore, working together through the AJATC apprenticeship program will help create better, safer traffic signal journeymen.
