The 2026 IBEW Hour Power Instructor of the Year award recognizes more than technical skill. It recognizes the people who dedicate themselves to lifting others up.
This year’s recipient, Simoane Spell of IBEW Local 176, has made that commitment the foundation of her life. As a journeywoman wireman, JATC instructor, union treasurer, mentor, wife, and mother, Simoane has built a reputation for showing up for the people around her both inside and outside the classroom. Her students, fellow instructors, and brothers and sisters describe someone who goes above and beyond to make sure others succeed.

Through her work with apprentices, fellow instructors, and committees like Sisters In Solidarity, Brotherhood Outreach, and EMWC, Simoane continues to help create a stronger, more connected union community at IBEW Local 176.
