Today we’d like to salute all military veterans and wish those who served a happy Veteran’s Day. We know one of the best places for military members is in the IBEW. That’s why that group gets so much recruitment attention from us.
The IBEW is very active recruiting veterans through a program called VEEP, Veterans Electrical Entry Program. This is where training is provided for active duty men and women before they leave. It also tackles a big problem relating to unemployment for service men and women. VEEP works to change that and guarantees them entry into the JATC of their home area.
Sometimes people confuse this day with Memorial Day, which honors those who died protecting our country. Veteran’s Day was originally Armistice Day, and it’s always been celebrated on November 11. That was the day World War I ended in 1918. After World War II, Armistice Day became Veteran’s Day.
Thanks to the United States veterans, citizens of this country have freedom, and that’s something we can never take for granted.
To all who served, have a very happy Veteran’s Day.
