Happy Labor Day sisters and brothers! It can be easy to take for granted what we have today, but back when the IBEW was founded in the late 1800s the thought of a holiday for workers, honoring the contributions they made to this great country, was nearly unfathomable.
However, our founding fathers and their fellow labor leaders had a vision of what could ultimately become Labor Day. It is thanks to the brave men and women who came before us that pushed back and stood up for their rights as workers that we are able to have this day to spend relaxing with loved ones. Join International President Kenny Cooper in today’s President’s Message and learn more about the meaning and history behind Labor Day. The work isn’t over, but President Cooper is proud to be continuing the fight for workers’ rights alongside all of you.
