2017 IBEW Motorcycle Solidarity Ride – The Ride to End Alzheimer’s
Welcome to this year’s 10th Annual IBEW Solidarity Ride in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. In keeping with the long-standing IBEW tradition of being there for the less fortunate, this year’s “Ride to End Alzheimer’s” raised over $15,000 for the charity.
This ride has been a fixture for a decade now, but the 2017 version will stand out for Jim Slater and Jamie Fasillo. The pair got engaged on the ride!
While cupid’s arrow struck two riders in particular, IBEW riders know a good thing when they see one…the beauty of the Appalachians. That’s why this years event was a return engagement with the rolling countryside in and around the Canaan Valley.
One thing riders will be talking about this year…mother nature giveth…and mother nature taketh away!
After 10 years, it has to happen sooner or later. The skys opened up and our traveling motorcycle band of about 400 riders got hammered with rain. And we do mean hammered.
But at the end of the day, it’s not about the weather. There is a reason this event fills up hotel bookings in one day and is among the most looked forward to social events on the IBEW calendar.
The IBEW Solidarity Ride is about exactly that – solidarity, good times, brotherhood. Something no rainstorm will ever wash away.
