It has never been more clear to me, especially in our current times where respect and dignity are under fire, just how important our brotherhood is.
Hello brothers and sisters, as I come to you with Thanksgiving wishes, I think I am going to put our tradition of brotherhood among the top things I am thankful for.
Because in a world where “division” and “conflict” seem to be around every corner, a little more “brotherhood” in America would go a long way.
Think about it.
It is within our IBEW brotherhood that you see outward signs of friendship and support of one another.
It is within our brotherhood that you see people from all walks of life working together for the same goals.
It is within our brotherhood that you see a second or third generation journeyman, taking the time to help out a young man or woman who found a home in the IBEW, after trying out less satisfying careers.
It is within our brotherhood that you see our members volunteering their time at countless fundraisers or charity events…just because it feels like the right thing to do.
It is within our brotherhood that you see our members working seven days a week to help restore power after our recent run of hurricanes, floods, and fires.
Brothers and sisters, when the news of the day can give the impression our society is about to run off the rails, it is the brotherhood of the IBEW that gives me a port in the storm.
So, for me, there are a lot of things I am thankful for this year, but none more so than the enduring, tangible brotherhood of the IBEW. A brotherhood that I am so lucky to be a part of.
